The Illinois State’s Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor filed five aggravated criminal sexual abuse charges against a 27-year-old on Monday related to alleged encounters in 2017 involving a teenage female, according to a Sullivan Police Department press release.
Jace Logan, the accused, is listed as a paraprofessional on Mattoon High School’s staff page and was five years older than the victim at the time of the alleged crime.
Logan is currently on administrative leave, according to Mattoon Community School District 2’s Facebook page on Tuesday.
The charges come from an investigation conducted by SPD following a report filed in April of last year that alleges the encounters took place in 2017, according to the press release.
Following this investigation, the report case was given to the Illinois State’s Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor’s office for review, said the press release.
Logan’s charges are a Class 2 felony, which is punishable by probation or three to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and requires the offender to register as a lifetime sex offender.
The press release said a summons was ordered with the first appearance in court scheduled for April 28, 2025.
