
The female Panther of the Week is going to Luisa Renovales Salazar from the women’s tennis team.
The senior from Los Mochis, Mexico won in the doubles and singles category against McKendree Sunday morning.
The pair of Renovales Salazar and sophomore Michelle Kostadinova got the 6-2 win over McKendree’s Joëlle Tabernal and Sofija Dunisijevis.
In the singles category, Renovales Salazar defeated Ivana Milkova (6-2, 6-2) to close out finished singles action.
Eastern got their second straight win with the 4-2 victory over McKendree.
The male Panther of the Week is going to Jake Ferguson from the baseball team.
The senior infielder from Mill Valley, California recorded a late home run to help seal the 5-4 win over Lindenwood.
Ferguson recorded his first home run with the Panthers in the ninth inning, allowing senior infielder Brett Stanley the opportunity to score along with Ferguson.
Along with his home run, Ferguson scored in the 11th inning after an error by Lindenwood provided senior utility Tyler Castro to get on the base, allowing Ferguson to come around the bases to score.
This win over Lindenwood is the first time the Panthers started 1-0 in Ohio Valley Conference play since 2022.
