The redshirt junior safety from Harrodsburg, Kentucky recorded his second career interception against Illinois State.
With 42 seconds left in the first half, Redbird quarterback Jake Rubley meant to hit his intended target of Redbird wide receiver Jalen Carr.
Drakeford jumped in the air to catch the ball to give the Panthers the last possession before the first half ended.
Eastern lost to Illinois State in the 112th Mid-America Classic 31-7 Saturday evening in Normal.
