The iconic Pemberton Hall will be temporarily without water service on Saturday due to needed repairs, according to Housing and Dining Director Mark Hudson.
“There is a critical repair that needs to be done, and it requires the water to be shut off in the building,” he said.
According to Hudson, the issue centers around a water valve that needs to be repaired. It is an exclusively on-campus issue. Other residence halls and the city’s water service will not be affected.
The outage will last from 6 a.m. to approximately noon. Residents of Pemberton Hall have been offered temporary housing in Thomas Hall starting Friday evening for the duration of the outage. Nearby Blair Hall will be open for residents to use the restroom with a staff member on site.
“We are connecting with each resident to see what they want to do and make sure they understand their options,” Hudson said. “This is certainly an unfortunate situation, but unavoidable. We are trying to do everything we can to minimize the impact on residents.”
Freshman Angelica Fadrowski, who has an undeclared major, was in good spirits. She heard about the outage from an email she received and from other residents on her floor.
“I feel like it would be worse if it was on a weekday,” she said. “Since it’s on a weekend, it’s not that bad.”
