The male Panther of the Break is going to Jordan “Tiger” Booker from the men’s basketball team.
The senior guard from Chicago helped lead the team to three wins over the holiday break.
The Panthers beat Blackburn College 87-66 on Dec. 17 at Groniger Arena with Booker recording 16 points, six assists and three rebounds.
Eastern concluded their non-conference play against Iowa State with a 48-80 loss on Dec. 21.
Eastern started Ohio Valley Conference play against Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a 58-67 loss on Dec. 29.
Booker helped the Panthers get conference wins over University of Tennessee-Martin and Little Rock.
The Panthers beat the UT Martin Skyhawks 79-72 on Jan. 4. Booker scored 21 points, as he was eight of 14 from the field and three of six from behind the arc.
In the Panthers’ 90-88 win over the Little Rock Trojans on Jan. 6, Booker scored a career-high of 31 points. Booker was nine of 16 from the field and three of five from behind the arc. Booker also made all 10 of his free throws.
The female Panther of the Break is going to Macy McGlone from the women’s basketball team.
The junior forward from Greenville, Wisconsin helped lead the team to two early Ohio Valley Conference wins over SIUE and UT Martin over the holiday break.
Throughout the five games during the break, McGlone recorded four double-doubles.
After ending their non-conference play with losses against Northern Illinois and Wisconsin, the Panthers secured their first conference win of the season against SIUE.
McGlone scored 30 points and recorded 10 rebounds against the SIUE Cougars, and the Panthers went on to win 80-74 on Dec. 29.
Eastern went on to get their second conference win on Jan. 4 over UT Martin. McGlone scored 22 points, going nine of 12 from the field. McGlone also recorded 10 rebounds in the 72-70 win over the Skyhawks.
Although the Panthers lost to Little Rock 49-53 on Jan. 6, McGlone recorded 22 points and 16 rebounds against the Trojans.
