Redshirt freshman running back MJ Flowers was named a Football Championship Subdivision Freshman All-American at the end of November.
Along with the award of Offensive Freshman of the Year for the Big South-Ohio Valley Conference, Flowers is also a finalist for the Jerry Rice Award.
Throughout the 2023 season, Flowers carried the ball 157 times for 854 yards, which ranks him in second place nationally among all freshman.
Flowers also scored eight rushing touchdowns, leading the Panthers for the most touchdowns this season.
Flowers also rushed more than three opposing offenses when in competition. Flowers rushed one more yard than McNeese’s offense (272-271), 95 more yards than Tennessee State (201-196), and 122 more yards than Robert Morris (179-57).
