Eastern’s Council on Academic Affairs met Thursday for their weekly meeting to discuss and approve new courses.
The Council approved English 3902, a second language acquisition and the teaching of English. This course is primarily for students who plan to teach English in their future career.
Council member Marita Gronnvoll said, “For example, you graduate from college, and you want to go teach English overseas for a while, which a lot of people do. This would be something that would help you towards that goal.”
The council also elected Nora Heist as the new chair of the Gen Ed Committee.
The Textbook Rental Advisory Committee requested that a member of the council be appointed to the committee, which Billy Hung volunteered for.
The council predicts that their agenda will become much busier as the semester progresses.
“Usually, CAA gets rolling a little bit later in the semester and in the spring, we are very busy,” Gronnvoll said. “But right now, the different curriculum committees are just starting to meet and send proposals up to us.”
