COLUMN: “I’m the Villaniess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss,” pretty to look at and small issues

Love stories of all types are told in TV, movies and lucky for me, in anime. This past weekend I found a romance anime that I watched in just one day. This anime only has 12 episodes, and it is easy to watch.
The anime I am talking about is “I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss.” This anime takes a different angle because the main character is supposed to be evil and is from a video game.
The main character died and came to life inside the video game she would play in the hospital while she was sick.
“I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss” has really pretty animations which gives life to the anime. I just enjoy it because what is a romance anything without a little drama.
The drama can sometimes feel kind of forced to me at times, but it is kind of cute the way the main characters show their love for each other.
This anime does things in it that people can find offensive. This anime is something that I think some people would like but others not so much. It plays on the theme of the “white knight” but also plays on the themes of how woman can do things on their own.
The “white knight” theme of the main characters love interest is a conflict on who he is to the people around him and the people who do not know him because he is the demon lord. Which in anime like this means everyone hates him and is scared of him but turns out he is super nice and caring and the only people that know this are the people close to him.
“I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss” also does add more characters though out the anime and give them their own story most of the time. I personally think it does have the right number of episodes because it seemed to me that if it had more than 12 it would have become redundant if it kept using the same formula.
The formula that I am talking about is the one that they used when they had a problem happen. Which was that the main character or her love interest is in trouble so she has to try to remember the game’s plot to find a way to change what will happen and save their relationship or lives.
In this anime, I think it would have been cool if there was a new character that was put there that was the main villain, she had no information about who that person is and what their plan is, then she had to find out their background by herself and find clues.
I do have to say besides the small little issues I had with the anime I did enjoy it and its really pretty to look at.
