EIU baseball to play Saint Xavier Wednesday

The Eastern Illinois baseball team will take on non-conference opponent Saint Xavier Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Coaches Stadium.

Record: 3-6 in the Ohio Valley Conference and 19-13 overall.

Cougar’s record: 11-8 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference and 19-21 overall.

Panthers’ Last Series:

The Panthers are coming off their first OVC series win of the season over Little Rock.

Lucas DiLuca had the best performance of the Panthers offensively last week. He hit .462 and three doubles, a team high.

Against the Trojans, DiLuca had three RBIs and two doubles against Western Illinois.

Grant Lashure continues to be a presence at the plate this season. He leads the Panthers with a batting average of .338. He also leads the Panthers with eight doubles.

Logan Eickhoff was also a key player in the Panthers’ wins last week. Eickhoff had six hits last week and led the Panthers in stolen bases. He is batting .333 and has an on-base percentage of .432.

Lincoln Riley had eight hits for the Panthers last week, including three RBIs.

Kolten Poorman walked it off for the Panthers during their last game against Little Rock. Poorman is batting a .281 with three home runs.

Colton Coca was named OVC Pitcher of the Week after having two wins last week. He allowed only one hit while striking out seven. His ERA is 3.86.

All time series record: The Panthers lead 3-2.

Cougars’ Last Series:

The Cougars won their series against Judson University.

Evan Orzech  leads the Cougars with a .339 batting average. He has recorded 41 hits this season and 24 RBIs.

Patrick Hayes is second on the team with a .314 batting average. He has hit 33 times this season wit 17 RBIs.

On the mound, Nico Saldias leads the Cougars with a 3.50 ERA. HE has allowed 46 hits, 29 runs, and 21 earned runs.
