The final school week before Spring Break includes multiple on-campus events.

There will be a percussion ensemble performance on Tuesday in Doudna’s Black Box Theatre at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $6 for general admission, Eastern employees and senior citizens and $5 for students.

Wednesday will see a blood drive in its usual spot on 7th Street between Doudna and the Martin Luther King, Jr. University Union from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It’s required to wear a mask and to make an appointment with Sam Laingen at mclaingen@eiu.edu or call ImpactLife at 800-747-5401.

Blood donors will receive either a St. Patrick’s Day themed shirt or a gift card and a free game of bowling at the Union Bowling Alley.

The blood drive is sponsored by the Alpha Epsilon Delta and Eta Sigma Gamma chapters on campus.

The Reminders, a musical duo that blends roots music and soulful sounds, according to Doudna’s description of the group, will be Doudna’s final performance before spring break, on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $20 for general admission, $15 for Eastern employees and $10 for students.

Also according to Doudna’s provided description, the Reminders is a married couple consisting of Big Samir and Aja Black.

“Big Samir weaves intricate rhythmic patterns with a bilingual French/English flow, displaying his street-smart credibility in both his lyrics and cool demeanor,” the description reads. “This is beautifully complimented by Aja Black’s confident delivery, diverse cadences and unique vocal stylings.”

Friday is the last day of classes before Spring Break commences, and they won’t resume until March 21.

All of the university dining halls close on Friday, with Taylor closing at 10 a.m., Thomas at 6 p.m., Stevenson’s Tower Dining at 1:30 p.m. and the University Food Court at 2 p.m.

The first Tuesday of spring break, March 15, is the deadline to initiate late retroactive withdrawal requests.

It is also the deadline for multiple scholarships through Eastern’s scholarship search in academic works.
