Coroner shares preliminary findings in student death

Coles County Coroner Ed Schniers said his preliminary findings in Jason Aguilar’s death show his death was caused by suicide.

Aguilar, a sophomore accounting major and track athlete, died Saturday night.

Police and first responders were dispatched to Andrews Hall Saturday where they worked on Aguilar before taking him to Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center where he was pronounced dead at 8:14 p.m.

A visitation is scheduled for 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday at 205 S. River Rd., Des Plaines, Illinois.
