City Council to vote on street closures, raffle tickets

The Charleston City Council will vote upon a resolution to authorize street closures for outdoor band events for Uptowner/Cellar on 7th Street from Monroe Ave. North to Madison Ave. on July 23; Aug. 5, 20, 28; and Sept. 3, 10 and 18, 2021 as said in the resolution.
The bands will be The Fairly Odd Duo on July 23, The Freezelands on Aug. 5, Mitch Faulkner on Aug. 20, The Good Dinosaurs on Aug. 28, BreakAway on Sep. 3, Moondogs on Sep. 10, JT Construction on Sept. 18 all in 2021.
Two other resolutions pertain to the destruction of audio or video recordings of closed session meetings in 2019 as well as authorizing the release of closed session meeting minutes for 2020 and 2021.
Two raffle licenses will be voted upon by the council. One would be for the Rural King Foundation for Rural America on July 27, 2021, at 920 W. Lincoln Avenue, Charleston.
It will be to provide funds to Mercy Ships for humanitarian aid in poor and rural areas throughout the world.
The other raffle license will be for Elevate CCIC, Inc. on July 27, 2021.
This will be to raise funds to further its mission to encourage, connect and grow small and startup businesses in the region.
An announcement will follow the meeting of the mayor’s appointment of Greg Ricciardi to a three year term on the Carnegie Library Board of Trustees.
Proclamation will also be given to recognize the August first to the seventh as National Farmer’s Market Week.
Following the action items, members of the public are given the opportunity to contact the council. On matters not on the agenda, no action will be taken, and the Council is not obligated to take any further action or to address the matter further.
