Campus COVID-19 guidelines to update soon
June 10, 2021
Illinois will enter Phase 5 of the state’s reopening plan on Friday, but updates to Eastern’s policies may not happen right away.
As of Thursday morning, university president David Glassman had not received information from the Illinois Board of Higher Education about new COVID-19 guidelines.
“[IBHE] has indicated that they will be providing us with guidelines soon. As soon as we hear them, we’ll evaluate them and then adapt our policies,” Glassman said.
Phase 5 includes an increase to the limit for event attendance, which Glassman said may be the only change that is applicable to Eastern’s campus.
He added that everyone is still urged to get vaccinated and help reduce the spread of the pandemic.
Moderna vaccines will be available on campus to Eastern students and employees on June 15, June 25, July 13, and July 27.
Anyone who wants to get vaccinated must schedule an appointment by contacting the Health and Counseling Services medical clinic in the Human Services Building.
