Traditional Chinese kite kits available Tuesday

As one of the final events of Asian American / Pacific Islander Heritage Month, students will be able to pick up kits to make a traditional Chinese kite.

The kits will be available in the Bridge Lounge of the Martin Luther King Jr. University from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Student must pre-register for the kits by going to go.eiu.edu/Kite. Students should provide their first and last name and their panther mail and they are encouraged to share how they heard about the event.

According to the sign-up page, “Kites are enjoyed by many throughout the world however kites were invented in ancient China more than 2000 years ago. Today, people usually use them for fun and entertainment, however kites actually played an important role in Chinese history. Here’s your chance to learn about the origin and history of Chinese kites, and you may be surprised with some facts you will find out.”
