How to get through Valentine’s Day single
February 13, 2018
Spending Valentine’s Day alone does not have to be miserable. Whether you are in a relationship or not, it is intended to remind us about love. Rather than wallowing in self-pity, get dressed up and do something nice for yourself, because self-love is the only love you can rely on.
It is not a sin to be single on Valentine’s Day. What could be a sin is not finding a way to enjoy it.
Here is a list of things you can do to make the day a fun one:
1.) Buy yourself a gift.
You do not need to wait for someone to buy a gift to tell you how awesome you are. You are an independent college student and can treat yourself. Maybe you have had an eye on a book, a dress or a pair of shoes. Just go get it. Spoil yourself. Love comes in many forms, and exercising self-love is one of the most important.
2.) Celebrate Gal-entine’s Day.
If you have friends who are single, this is a great time to spend some time together and have a Gal-entine’s Day instead. Get together and celebrate how awesome you are. Laugh about everything, go to the movies, order some pizza, plan a fun activity, go bowling. This will create some great memories with people you love.
3.) Enjoy a Netflix marathon with great romantic movies.
If you want to stay indoors, that is fine! Order pizza or your favorite ice cream and slip into your pajamas. Light some candles and have an indoor date with yourself.
4.) Have a spa day.
Take yourself to a spa (it need not be expensive) and treat yourself to a luxurious massage to ease fatigue, deepen relaxation and shift your energy to a place of beauty and well-being. You cannot imagine how much younger you will look.
5.) Take a relaxing bubble bath.
When did you last have a bubble bath? Rather than the usual 10-minute shower, switch on some background music, light a few scented candles, pour yourself a glass of your favorite drink —remember to grab enough so last the entire bath —then get a good book, add some bubble bath and jump in.
