Rescue Training: Fire department trains for rope rescue
July 24, 2014
The firefighters and paramedics at the Charleston Fire Department dangled from Carman Hall as part of rescue training this week.
Captain Todd Foster said each member took part in the training whether that was being part of the rescue or making sure everything was safe up top.
“We are simulating someone trapped on a rope whether that would be a window washer or a construction worker and we’re going to go down and rescue them from their harness or their rope and transfer them over to ours and get them to the ground safely,” Foster said.
The fire department participates in technical rescue training every month.
