Community crowns Little Miss, Mr. Firecracker
July 4, 2014
Charleston began its Red, White and Blue Days with the crowing of the 2014 Little Miss and Mr. Firecracker.
This year’s winners are Gavin Porter and Kelsey Trigg. Both Porter and Trigg were chosen out of 10 boys and 10 girls and were elected by the total amount of donations received.
All money donated is used for events sponsored by the 4th of July Committee.
Jenny Porter, the mother of Gavin, said being elected has been a very eventful experience.
“Gavin is enjoying the festivities and all the things that come along with it,” Jenny Porter said.
Jenny Porter said Gavin especially is enjoying this because his older brother Todd Porter was nominated for Mr. Firecracker as well.
Jenny Porter said she feels great about being so involved with the Independence Day festivities and enjoys helping support the community.
Jenny Porter said her son is anxious for the parade Friday because Gavin gets to be in the parade.
Most of all though Gavin is just excited for the festivities and being involved with the community, friends and family, she said.
