Groups to work together in future

The University Board and the student government announced that in the future they will come together to work on their budgets during the Apportionment Board meeting Thursday night.

Christy Anderson, student executive vice-president and a senior communication sciences and disorders major, said after the cuts they got back last week, the UB and the student government decided to come together and work out the budget cohesively so they did not have to argue.

“I’m just really glad that the budget was approved today, that if UB is happy with the budget then student government is happy,” Anderson said.

Ted Hart, the assistant director of Copy Express, said he does applaud the UB and the student government coming together to work on the budget; it shows they have a good understanding of each group’s needs and it shows maturity and teamwork.

Ashley Hoogstraten, a senior communication studies major and chairwoman of the AB, said she did not expect the UB and the student government to come in and say they would be working together, but congratulates them on coming to an agreement.

Michelle Murphy, the student body president and a senior communication studies major, said they will have to make some minor cuts to printing and T-shirts funds on their budget, but nothing that will fundamentally change the student government.

Alex Boyd, a sophomore political science major, agreed that the UB and the student government should work together.

“I am glad to see that we can work together with UB and that we should keep the relationship strong because we do work together and I think that is the most important thing,” Boyd said.
