Theatre majors, minors display creativity
Students in the theatre arts department will display various projects and research from this semester at the Theatre Department Showcase.
Theatre art majors and minors will present set designs, costume designs and theatre performance acts from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Doudna Fine Arts Center’s Movement Studio.
Jean Wolski, the theatre arts department chairperson, said this event will give students the opportunity to present their work to the public.
“We decided to pull all sorts of projects from different classes in the department and let the students present them to the public,” Wolski said.
Theatre art majors and minors planned this event to show their creativity and determination.
“Students want to get the opportunity to show their hard work and time spent in our department on a daily basis,” Wolski said.
Katy Kruzic, a senior theatre arts major, said the Theatre Department Showcase will show what the department is really about.
“The Theatre Department Showcase will not only display set designs, costumes and performances, but this event will show people what we really do in this department on a daily basis,” Kruzic said.
The Theatre Department Showcase is student-run and many theatre arts majors and minors will participate in this event.
“We’re expecting a large turnout since there will be a little bit of everything. There will be different types of design, performances and even a study on the history of theatre,” Kruzic said.
Tim Tholl, a senior theatre arts major, said this event will show their creativity to other Eastern students and the public.
“We’re a smaller department, but we have a lot of fun and this event will be a great time,” Tholl said.
Theatre art majors and minors stay busy by working on many different projects within the department.
“We just finished doing our student-directed one acts with a lot of design work from students,” Tholl said. “This event will show that our department gives us a lot of input into the creative process.”
