Campus improvement to be discussed
The Eastern community will have the chance to hear reports from the Illinois Board of Higher Education for campus improvement at the Faculty Senate meeting today.
Michael Hoadley, Les Hyder, David Viertel and Derek Markley will be speaking on topics related to IBHE advisory board and campus improvement.
Michael Hoadley, assistant vice president of academic affairs for technology, will be giving an update about the Center for Academic Technology Support. This update that is given every year will talk about the services and projects that are being performed by CATS.
Some things that will be mentioned are the new web office and EIU Mobile for iPhones, Hoadley said.
Les Hyder, Eastern Faculty Advisory Committee representative and David Viertel, senator and Council of University Senate representative will be giving reports on the IBHE and discuss what was presented at the previous IBHE meeting.
Derek Markley, the special assistant to the president, will be discussing cost containment options.
Markley said one option he will discuss is the new webpage for cost containment ideas. The webpage will allow people to see previous suggestions made since the website has been up. Then previous suggestions will be discussed to see if they are effective. The Faculty Senate meeting will meet at 2:00 p.m. today in the Booth Library conference room.
