University Board will host a comedy show
Free mock cocktails, snacks and a comedy show are on the agenda for the 7th Street Underground in the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union tonight.
Arvin Mitchell, known for his clean comedy on BET, will be performing at 9 p.m.
The University Board will host a Happy Half-Hour thirty minutes before the show.
“I want people to see that University Board is here to raise the bar in college entertainment,” said Rovion Reed UB vice chair. “We are creating a great atmosphere on Thursday night with appetizers and mock cocktails. We want to make it more of an experience and not just a comedy show.”
UB Chair Krystina LaMorte said the mock cocktails will consist of soda and the syrup used to make cocktails. She said the UB will be providing snacks at separate tables in a buffet style, and a committee of the UB members will be making and serving the drinks.
UB will raffle DVDs and t-shirts at the comedy show.
LaMorte compared Mitchell’s comedy to Aries Spears, who came to Eastern in April 2009, because they both do impersonations of people.
LaMorte said Mitchell also does facial impressions of people. She said his jokes cover a wide range of cultures.
Reed said he wants people to see the UB is trying to get more entertainment to come to Eastern.
Reed said this event is geared toward anyone in the community. He said he wants people to enjoy the event.
Otis Seawood, the UB special events coordinator, said he wants to see people at the event. He said he expects the show to be a good time.
Seawood said he wants people to attend the event because it is a way for them to have fun and let go of the stresses of the day. He encourages students to bring a friend to the event.
Happy Half-Hour and Mitchell’s comedy show are free to the community. Everyone is invited to attend.
