Column: Bring it on, Eastern
Do you like football? Do you take Sundays off of work to watch the NFL? Do you enjoy gambling? Do you think pizza is delicious? Do you like free pizza? If yes, then this contest is for you.
I am challenging anyone who is up for some fun competition to a weekly Pro Football Pick’Em contest on Yahoo.com.
Here’s the gist of it:
1. Every week before the games begin, you will go to the Pro Football Pick’Em page on Yahoo.com. You can find it under the Fantasy Sports page.
2. You will join my group and compete against me to get the most picks correct from the given week.
3. If you beat me, and we’re not talking ties, then your name will be entered in a raffle at the end of the season to win a free pizza. Note: if many people beat me on a given week, only the person who wins the week will get his or her name in the raffle.
4. You can win multiple times. The more you win, the more slips of paper with your name on it go into the raffle at the end of the NFL season.
5. If you are the winner at the end of the year, you will receive a free pizza delivered to you by a surprise guest from Eastern athletics. Note: Anyone can play, but you must be an Eastern student or staff member to win the prize.
I must warn you, I’m extremely good at picking games.
I also must warn you that if you are not a Yahoo member, then you can’t compete in this contest. However, signing up is free. no big deal. Just go to Yahoo.com and sign up for a free account.
I know we are already a week into the NFL season, but it’s never too late to start making picks.
It’s fun and it’s free, and it’s your chance to prove that you are smarter than a lot of different people.
Who knows, maybe you’ll encounter competition from Eastern coaches and athletes along the way. This can only make it more fun.
Imagine, you’re making your picks and you realize, “Oh, Nick Nasti is picking games, too.”
Maybe it’ll be someone else. It could be Eastern women’s soccer head coach Summer Perala trying to beat out everyone. You never know, maybe she’s an NFL wiz.
The possibilities are endless, and that’s because anybody in the world can be a part of this.
Who wouldn’t want a free pizza? All it’s going to take is 10 minutes, if that, out of your Thursday to make NFL picks. And it’s free.
A free pizza for free NFL picks? I’m in.
I challenge you, Eastern. I challenge the world. Bring it on. If you’re interested, you can contact me at densportsdesk@gmail.com.
