‘It’s not a show; it’s our reality’
Thirteen students from the Student Action Team traveled to Springfield Thursday for College Student Lobby Day at the Capitol building.
The group, led by Eric Wilber, student executive vice president, spoke to legislators about stopping cuts to higher education, funding the MAP Grant and releasing the nearly $25 million the university is owed in general revenue payments.
Students also spoke with Rep. Chapin Rose and Sen. Dale Righter, who stressed that the decisions being made about Illinois’s future will come in affect when this generation of college students are fully-grown.
“Nobody has more at stake in what’s going on in this building today than you do,” Righter said.
