Students can read up on new books added to Booth
March was a great month for avid readers as Booth Library has acquired and cataloged 2,000 new print titles.
Karen Whisler, the head of Collection Development, said Booth Library has acquired some new printed books, DVDs, journals and government documents.
In most cases 2,000 new print titles are a lot, but it is nothing new for the people at Booth Library.
“Booth Library is continuously purchasing books and other materials to support the curricular and research needs of Eastern’s students,” Whisler said. “We add over 1,000 new titles every month.”
Whisler gave a list of some of the books she thinks will be most popular.
One book is Hulk Hogan’s, “My Life Outside the Ring.”
This book is a vivid look at the life of Hulk Hogan and is a must-read for any wrestling fan or anyone interested in his now tumultuous personal life.
Next on the list was David Goldblatt’s, “Ball is Round: A Global History of Soccer.”
Soccer is continuing to grow in popularity in the U.S. and one of the most popular sports worldwide.
This book may draw some interest from those who are awaiting this summer’s upcoming World Cup and will help give some more information into the history of soccer.
John Heilemann’s, “Game Change: Obama and the Clintons, McCain and Palin, and the Race of a Lifetime” made its way on to the list as well.
This book takes the reader through the 2008 U.S. presidential election.
It gives an in-depth look at the election and can relate to many college students because for some, it was the first election students were eligible to vote.
Students can check out all of the new titles in the Booth Library by going to their Web site.
The new additions are in the Marvin Foyer on the north side of the library.
The new books will stay there for about a week and then will be placed in their regular position.
