Assistant Coach search process starts
Kate Price has spent only about one month as head coach, and there are plenty of tasks to occupy her time.
The Eastern head volleyball coach is trying to coach, pick up recruits and within the last month trying to find an assistant coach.
A national search was posted on the NCAA Web site on March 2.
Price said the search committee is in the process of going through the applicants and does not have a timeline of selecting an assistant volleyball coach.
“We’re not rushing it right now because the team is the priority,” Price said.
Price, senior associate athletic director Mark Bonnstetter and assistant sports information director Bart Rettberg are part of the search.
“We have people in mind,” Price said. “It’s exciting to through the applications. I’m pretty much open to anything.”
Price is the third Eastern head volleyball coach in three seasons and was hired on March 1.
Price is preparing the team for a tournament at Loyola of Chicago on April 10. National Signing Day is on April 14, and at this point Price said she is wrapping up this year’s recruiting class with at least three players.
Price has been working on the team with ball control and instructing players with their workouts.
“I can’t complain,” she said. “We all have one thing on our mind: Try to get to the top of the (Ohio Valley Conference).”
