Panther Briefs: Baseball signs seven
Eastern baseball head coach Jim Schmitz announced Monday the signing of a seven-player recruiting class.
The pitchers among the class are right-handers Luke Bushur from Teutopolis and Ryan Hartman from Mount Zion, and left-handers Christian Slaznik from St. Louis’ St. John Vianney and Darin Worman from Dietrich by way of Parkland College.
The first basemen are Matt Kaiser from Roselle’s Lake Park and T.J. McManus from Glenbrook South and Parkland College. Jacob Reese is the catcher and comes to the program from Chatham-Glenwood.
Prep signs with men’s tennis
Eastern men’s tennis head coach John Blackburn announced the signing of Naperville Central’s Kevin Bauman to a National Letter of Intent Thursday.
Sallee signs five
As the Eastern women’s basketball team kicked off the 2009-10 season with a bunch of fresh faces, head coach Brady Sallee has announced the signing of five others for next year.
The five-player class include: Brittany Cochran from Chicago Bogan, Jordyne Crunk from Belleville Althoff Catholic, Jackie Herman from Wilmot Union in Twin Lakes, Wis., Taryn Olson from Madison Memorial in Madison, Wis., and Jessica Parker from Bloomington South in Bloomington, Ind.
