Student Government open forum planned
At today’s Student Senate meeting, members will discuss supporting a Student Government Open Forum intended to encourage campus participation in Eastern’s political affairs.
Though every Student Senate meeting is open to the public, Nahder Houshmand, chair of the student relations committee, expects this forum to draw a larger audience than usual.
“Basically, this is a yearly thing that we do as an opportunity for students to come out and see more of what our meetings are about,” Houshmand said.
“It’s a good way to address the senators.”
At the forum, Student Senate members will evaluate the Student Body Constitution as well as past and proposed revisions.
While Houshmand would not personally change any aspect of the constitution, he looks forward to any pending disagreements within the Student Senate.
“The Committee on Constitutional Oversight has worked pretty diligently,” Houshmand said.
“We encourage all to come, and we appreciate all input.”
Refreshments will be served at the forum, to be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 4 in the University Ballroom of the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union.
