Move-in goes smoothly for students

Students have been moving back into Eastern’s residence halls all weekend.

Move-in started at 9 a.m. on Friday.

Whether they were moving in early for job training or sometime during the weekend, no big problems were seen by residents on campus.

Craig Deardorff, a senior dietetics major, said he did not see many major problems.

However, he said a lot of people who live on the fifth floor of Taylor Hall South always have trouble.

“I’ve seen people have to carry their stuff up there because of the lack of elevator and it does not look like fun,” he said.

Deardorff lives in the south tower of Taylor Hall, but he lives on the second floor so it does not really affect him.

Erica Burns, a sophomore history major, said if people do live on the fifth floor of the south tower of Taylor Hall, then there are usually people there that are ready to help.

“I didn’t have any trouble at all,” she said. “I thought it was easier than when I moved in at the beginning of the year and not as chaotic.”

She also said that being back, people look like they have changed a lot.

Brianna Harden, a sophomore pre-nursing major, said things went smoothly as she moved into her dorm in Lawson Hall.

“I have been here for a while because I moved in early, but pretty far it has gone smoothly with all the residents,” she said. “So far, one person forgot their keys, but that was it.”

Keith Darby, a senior geography major, said that things in Thomas Hall seemed to go pretty nicely as well.

He said there were no big problems with people moving in.

“Everything has gone smoothly,” he said.

Becky Kazmierczak, a freshman political science major, said only people who were moving in for the first time seemed to have problems.

Amy Jennings, a senior elementary education major, said it was a pretty good move-in and newer residents seemed to move in on Friday and Saturday while others moved on Sunday.
