Apportionment Board votes yes on all University Board events

Apportionment Board voted on three special events from University Board at Thurday’s meeting.

The events are “Up All Nite: Casino Royale,” “UB Rush Hour Lucky Charm” and “Spring Fling Wild Safari.” All events are slated to happen in the spring.

The costs for the events are $8,275 for Up All Nite, $3,200 for Rush Hour and $9,025 for Spring Fling.

AB approved Up All Nite 8-0. For the event, some of the activities are a cash cube and magician Peter Boie.

The cash cube is a tube where people can step in and grab money out of.

AB passed the Rush Hour event 7-1.

The event is going to have crystals that students can put their face in along with root beer floats.

AB approved Spring Fling 6-0-2.

The event will have an artist doing caricatures of students and face painting.

The event also might even have a live panther along with some other exotic animals.

UB will get the animals from an exotic animal company.

“We are going to get a list of animals and then pick out the ones we want from that list,” said Otis Seawood, Jr., coordinator for UB Special Events.

UB will have 10 exotic animals for the event.

Tiffany Turner, student vice president for business affairs, said she encouraged students to talk to their peers about these events so they could know what the students wanted.

AB member Julianna Stevenson said she talked to her roommate, and the roommate thought prior Up All Nites were fun.

“She likes the craziness of it all, and she especially likes winning the prizes,” Stevenson said. “My other roommate said the cash box was a lot of fun when they had it the last time.”

AB member Patrick Lindstrom said he talked to a few of his friends who liked going to an on-campus event that is cheap.

“They are not partiers, so they like having something to do,” Lindstrom said. “They also liked winning the prizes.”

AB member Michael Baird said he talked to his roommate and the Diversity Committee for the Residence Hall Association along with a couple of people from his classes.

“They were all for UB programming,” he said.
