New apartment complex to be close to campus

One of the important features of the three new apartment buildings under construction on Fourth Street just north of Grant Avenue is blending in with the neighborhood.

Dave Kinnaird, owner of the Campus View Suites, said he could have built a single large building, but he had an interest in keeping the residential look in the neighborhood.

The three identical apartment buildings have a Southern architecture design with large balconies overlooking Fourth Street.

“It’s not a box look,” Kinnaird said.

He said the time was right to build the apartment building located across the street from Eastern.

Each apartment within the building will have four bedrooms, two full bedrooms and will be fully furnished.

“Each suite has their own washer and dryer,” Kinnaird said.

Other amenities included are a dishwasher, a 48-inch flat panel TV and free cable TV.

For the security of the buildings, Kinnaird said there would be a keyless security entry system, and deadbolt locks on the entrance doors of the apartment.

Every bedroom will also have a lock on it, he added.

Kinnaird said he has received lots of calls for information on the apartments.

Rent for Campus View Suites will be $560 per month.

The apartments will be ready by Aug. 1, 2009, Kinnaird said.

“It gives Eastern students a quality place to live,” he said.

Melrose on Fourth, located near the corner of Fourth Street and Polk Avenue, is the latest apartment complex to open, which opened to students this fall.
