RICHMOND, Ky. -Eastern Kentucky used short, quick passes as its primary offensive weapon in its 20-7 win against Eastern Illinois on Saturday afternoon at Roy Kidd Stadium.
The Colonels (5-3, 4-1 Ohio Valley Conference) moved the ball down the field using screen passes and quick slant routes before giving way to their run game for both touchdowns.
Eastern Kentucky senior quarterback Allan Holland scored on a seven-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter, and sophomore running back scored on a two-yard rush in the second quarter.
Colonels’ senior kicker Taylor Long made two field goals including a long of 50 yards to seal the 13-point win.
The Panthers (3-5, 1-3 OVC) scored their lone touchdown on a five-yard touchdown pass from red-shirt junior quarterback Bodie Reeder to senior wide receiver Alicus Nozinor with 7 minutes, 11 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
Reeder was sacked five times and fumbled twice (one lost). Red-shirt senior running back Travorus Bess and freshman running back Desmin Ward also lost fumbles.
