Warner Brothers announced in August that the final installment of the Harry Potter movies, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” would be delayed until the summer of 2009.

Our take: I planned my November around one event – the release of “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.” This sixth installment was going to be the movie of the fall season. It was my most anticipated movie. Then it was ripped out from my foreseeable future and pushed way back to the summer. The day I found out Harry Potter would no longer be released Nov. 21 I was bummed. My fall was ruined. “Well, at least we have ‘Twilight’ in December,” I said to myself right after the news broke.

‘Twilight’ movie replaces HP

After hearing of Harry Potter’s delay, the distributors of “Twilight,” advanced its release date from Dec. 12 to Nov. 21. Producers hope this series’ popularity matches or exceeds the Harry Potter boom.

Our take: I have been cyber-stalking movie production for this movie since about March and this news should make me ecstatic. But, sadly, the shadow of Harry Potter is too big. Everyone knew “Harry Potter” was going to be awesome, and the trailer proved it. I can’t say the same for Twilight. I’ve watched the trailer multiple times, and I’m still unsure about the outcome of this movie. Will the actors be able to capture Stephenie Meyer’s world? Not that this matters, because I’ll still probably go to the midnight showing and even see it more than once. Twilight can try to fill Harry Potter’s shoes, and maybe it will. But there’s only one Harry Potter.
