Bonnstetter trial set for Oct. 21 after start date vacated

The trial for Associate Sports Athletic Director Mark Bonnstetter is scheduled for 9 a.m. Oct. 21, after the Sept. 30 start date was vacated, according to court records.

Bonnstetter, 40, was charged with residential burglary, a class 1 felony; criminal trespass to a residential burglary, a class 4 felony; and criminal sexual abuse, a class A misdemeanor.

Bonnstetter was charged after an incident that occurred on Nov. 25, 2006.

On Jan. 22, 2007, he entered a plea of not guilty and requested a jury trial.

If convicted, Bonnstetter could face as many as 15 years in state prison.

Kooistra pleads guilty

Scott S. Kooistra, 22, of Chicago, voluntarily pleaded guilty to one count of disorderly conduct, a class C misdemeanor, on Aug. 6. One count of domestic battery was dismissed as part of the plea agreement, according to court records.

The charges stemmed from an incident at Stevenson Hall on March 1.

Kooistra was placed on two years of judicial supervision and was ordered to complete 200 hours of community service, according to records.

He was also ordered to pay a $500 fine. Kooistra was also ordered to undergo an alcohol, drug and mental health evaluation within 30 days.

Reeder pleads guilty to DUI

Bodie Reeder, 22, voluntarily pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol on July 29, according to court records.

The University Police Department arrested Reeder on Jan. 11 after a traffic stop.

According to records, Reeder was placed on two years of judicial supervision and ordered to undergo alcohol treatment and attend DUI class, according to court records.

He was also levied a $625 fine and will also have to pay a $100 trauma fee, $94.50 restitution to the University Police Department and a $500 fine, which goes to purchase equipment for police departments to prevent alcohol related crimes in Illinois.

Reeder is the starting quarterback for Eastern’s football team.
