Triple Threat: Globetrotter legends

The Harlem Globetrotters visited Lantz Arena on Tuesday. It’s the first time since 2000 the Globetrotters have played in Charleston.

Illinois head coach Jolette Law was one of the few women to play for the team. Here are three other Globetrotter Legends.

1. Wilt Chamberlain – An NBA Legend as well, Chamberlain scored 31,419 points and grabbed 23,924 rebounds in his NBA career. The former Kansas Jayhawk product signed with the Globetrotters in 1958 and played in the NBA from 1959 to 1973.

2. Meadowlark Lemon – The “Clown Prince” of the Globetrotters for 24 seasons played in more than 7,500 consecutive games starting in 1954. He is enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and his Globetrotters jersey was retired in 2001.

3. Fred “Curly” Neal – Neal is known as one of the greatest dribblers of all time and was named a Globetrotters Legend in 1993. He played 22 seasons with the team from 1963-85.
