RHA looks at ’08-09 budget
The Residence Hall Association budget for the 2008-2009 will be discussed during the groups’ final meeting of the semester at 5 p.m. tonight in Lawson Hall.
RHA Treasurer Justin Myers will propose the budget he and members of the RHA Financial Advisory Board created this semester to voting members for their approval.
Myers said most of the money RHA has in its operating budget comes from sales of final exam kits, and a general fund remains under RHA control each year.
Another topic that will be discussed during tonight’s meeting will be the upcoming Illinois Resident Hall Association conference.
RHA President Jarrod Scherle said there have been some problems recruiting people for the conference.
To remedy this problem, Scherle and the rest of the RHA executive board visited with several residence hall councils to lobby them to find students interested in attending the conference.
Scherle said he thinks this approach may yield good results in finding students willing and able to benefit from the conference.
“We have a good pool to select from,” he said.
Scherle also said planning for the RHA Winter Olympics and the Spring Retreat may begin at tonight’s meeting.
He said RHA members might decide whether or not to return Camp New Hope in Neoga, the site of the RHA Retreat earlier this semester.
Scherle said he would also hand out and discuss RHA meeting schedules during the meeting.
The National Residence Hall Honorary will host the first RHA meeting of the spring semester at 5 p.m. Jan. 10 in Thomas Hall.
