A battle of the sexes

The battle to end all battles will take place tonight.

And those who know about the opposite gender will have an advantage.

“Up All Night: Battle of the Sexes” will take place 7 p.m. to midnight tonight in the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union.

Among the events will be a game show that pits men against women. Contestants will be asked questions about the opposite sex to score points.

The event will cover most of the Union.

Four showings of “Superbad” are scheduled for every hour beginning at 7 p.m. and will be in the Charleston-Mattoon and Arcola-Tuscola rooms. Lazer Tag will be in the University Ballroom and Retta, a comedian who has been on Comedy Central, will be in 7th Street Underground.

Nick Gracyalny, a senior social science major, said that the University Board brought “Superbad” because of the success of “Knocked Up.” Gracyalny said that people were leaving the “Knocked Up” showings because there was no seating. The organizers said they expect an equally high turnout.

Mike Usher, sophomore business major, expects Retta’s performance to be packed.

“She’s really funny; I’ve seen her before,” he said.

He said in the past, she has does an excellent job with college students.

He expects the Underground to be packed like he has seen for other comedians.

The list of events is extensive and revolves around the “Battle of the Sexes” theme.

Gracyalny said that consolidation to one building was a great idea since people did not have to walk around campus to get to the events.

Usher said he thought it was a great close to the semester and a perfect way to go into finals.

Andrew Hubbard, a marketing and corporate communications major and University Board special events coordinator, was in charge of assembling the event.

“We encourage everyone to come out,” he said. “It’s their money and we want to please them first.”

He has no idea how many people will show up, since they do not have much prior information to judge it on.

But he said it would be more fun for everyone if more people come.

“Don’t just come by yourself, bring something with you,” he said.
