AB approves pizza funds
In less than 10 minutes, the Apportionment Board unanimously approved an additional allocation to Student Government at Thursday night’s meeting.
Student Body President Cole Rogers approached the board to ask for an additional $301.08 to fund “Pizza with the President,” scheduled from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Nov. 7 in the Student Recreation Center.
Through the week, faculty, staff and students will host events for the inauguration of President Bill Perry.
Perry’s formal inauguration is scheduled for Nov. 9.
Rogers said Student Senate member Tiffany Turner, who serves on the Inaugural Planning Committee, contacted local pizzerias to see if they would make donations.
Boxa responded by donating 10 pizzas and offered additional pizzas for a discounted rate of $6 per pizza. Student Senate will order 40 more pizzas at that rate.
Laurel Fuqua, account technician for AB, told Rogers the cost of paper plates, napkins and the food permit could come out of money Student Government already has, which lowered the proposal by $15.
The rest of the money will purchase posters to advertise the event.
AB member Temetria Hargett said Perry makes an effort to come to different student organizations; now, students can go to him.
The proposal now moves to the senate for approval.
In other business, Leah Pietraszewski, student vice president for business affairs and AB chair, told the board Faculty Senate is looking for two additional faculty members to join AB.
Pietraszewski said one member of Faculty Senate expressed interest in joining AB, but is not sure if the member can commit.
AB should have three faculty members, but because a quorum of seven voting members – student or faculty – is required, the board can still meet and vote on proposals until two faculty members join.
