Tent City welcomes alums

While several individual departments accommodate alumni, all of the colleges will be out to welcome alumni at “tent city.”

Before the football game on Saturday, each college will set up a tent to celebrate Homecoming weekend with alumni, faculty and the community.

Mary Anne Hanner, dean of the College of Sciences, said the tent city is a gathering spot to provide activities between the parade and the game.

Hanner said faculty and department chairs will be out cooking hot dogs.

She said the college of science tent will pass out gifts and raffle off Eastern sweatshirts.

Hanner said the tent city is a way for alumni to connect with their former teachers.

She said faculty love to take messages from previous students who come by the tent asking for old teachers who are not present.

This way, the faculty knows former students are asking about them and remembering them, Hanner said.
