Matt Daniels’ OVC Football Picks
Last Week’s Record: 6-2
Overall Record: 21-6
Tennessee Tech 35
Murray State 20
-Tech running back Derek White has another 150-plus yards on the ground. Year two of the Matt Griffin Era at Murray looking a lot like the first one – a conference loss.
Jacksonville State 27
Eastern Kentucky 21
-JSU’s defense too tough. Gamecocks pick off EKU quarterback Allan Holland three times and take two back for touchdowns.
Eastern Illinois 35
Indiana State 17
-Close game in the first half, but Panthers rushing attack delivers big in the second half. Eastern’s Bodie Reeder has solid, but not spectacular outing in his first start at quarterback.
Austin Peay 31
Tennessee-Martin 20
-Austin Peay showed it was a true contender in the league after losing by one in overtime to Tennessee State last week. Tennessee-Martin showed that the 2006 season was a fluke.
Southern 21
Tennessee State 17
-After emotionally draining OVC win against Austin Peay, the Tigers can’t rebound and Southern moves to 4-0 in another emotional game for TSU.
Southeast Missouri 24
Samford 14
-In a matchup of 2-1 teams, SEMO moves to 3-1 behind its solid defense. The Bulldogs haven’t played anybody in their two wins and it’ll be a while until Samford head coach Pat Sullivan has his first OVC win.
