Move-in weekend calendar of events
As students re-invade Charleston, several organizations will sponsor events across campus. Here is a schedule of what to do this weekend:
Thursday, Aug. 16
Move-In Day begins at 9 a.m.
Students begin moving into residence halls at 9 a.m. Volunteers will help students navigate the campus.
Friday, Aug. 17
Freshmen/Transfer welcome
Prowl members will be introduced to Eastern Illinois University at 10 a.m. in Lantz Arena.
Up All Nite: Lites Out. 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.
University Board will have its first Up All Nite of the semester. A comedian, live-band karaoke, bingo, Playstation 3 tournament and free giveaways highlight the show. The event will be in the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union.
Saturday, Aug. 18
Prowl Service Project: Car painting for kids
Prowl members and Eastern students will paint and assemble toy cars in the Library Quad from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cars will be donated to children in need.
Eastern scavenger hunt
Beginning at the library quad, a scavenger hunt will be held that could help students learn more about the university. The event will be from 2-3 p.m.
Quakin’ in the Quad
Hula dancers, water slides and bingo highlight UB’s annual event. It will be held in the South Quad from 6-11 p.m. and has a Hawaiian theme this year.
Sunday, Aug. 19
First Night
Student government holds a spirit night just before it’s time to go back to class. The school marching band, Pink Panthers and the Cheer Team perform. It begins at 11 p.m. at the Alumni Clock Tower.
