Women’s tennis snap losing streak
The women’s tennis team snapped its three-match losing streak Wednesday, pulling out a 5-2 victory against Bradley.
Sophomore Natalie Martin and freshman Hayley Homburg won at No. 1 doubles. Senior Madina Mambetova and junior Sandra Sasidharan won at the No. 2 doubles to earn a point.
Head coach John Blackburn said it was good to finally get the doubles point, but he was really impressed with the close singles play.
Sasidharan at No.1 singles and Martin at No. 2 won both their matches and remain undefeated this season.
Mambetova lost at No. 3 singles, but Homburg at No. 4 singles and junior Stephanie Harmazy at No. 5 singles both won.
“I saw that the match came down to me and Sandy (Sasidharan), we were the only two left on the courts,” Harmazy said. “I just knew I had to execute.”
This was the women’s final match before Ohio Valley Conference play starts this Saturday against Morehead State.
