Iowa meet gives focus to track team
Sugg. Hed: Team travels to UNI for non-scoring meet
The Panthers are gearing up for their first of three consecutive away meets this season when they will travel to the Northern Iowa Invitational for a non-scoring meet.
Men’s head coach Tom Akers said by competing and not scoring it allows the team to see where individuals are at by having them focus on one event.
Other schools participating in the meet are Bradley, Drake, Minnesota, Western Illinois and several other schools.
Senior pole vaulter Nicolene Galas said having fewer teams at last week’s Mega Meet could have hindered the vaulters.
Senior distance runner Nicole Flounders said she is looking forward to the intensity of the meet because there will be more athletes, making for crowded races.
“It is a lot harder racing when there is 12 girls in a race as opposed to eight because it is more people you have to move around,” Flounders said.
