Tough matchups ahead for wrestling

A week after having their hands full with five ranked wrestlers, the Panthers will face the same scenario this weekend.

Instead of it being just one team, Eastern will have to face not only No. 7 Central Michigan, but also Gardener-Webb and No. 18 Tennessee-Chattanooga.

“There are some great head to head match-ups,” Eastern head coach Ralph McCausland said. “There are top ranked kids at Central Michigan. They have the Sinnott brothers, both at (1)74 and (1)84. I don’t think Greg (Perz) has wrestled the 184, but I know Kenny (Robertson) has wrestled the other one at the Midlands last year. These are all matches that are kind of must have. You beat these guys and you turn the corner.”

Beside Brandon and Christian Sinnott, Central Michigan has six other wrestlers ranked. Only the 133 and 157-pound weight class is not ranked.

Chattanooga will also have four ranked wrestlers to test the Panthers at the 133, 141, 149, and 175 weight classes.

“It’s just going to be a good challenge,” McCausland said. “The schedule we have left is a sound schedule. Hopefully, we’ll rise to the occasion.”
