Friendship invites comedian

Eric Pollock is known for both being a musician and a comedian. He does not prefer one over another in the entertainment area, since neither really pays the bills.

Gretchen Claypool, University Board member, first heard about Eric Pollack through Chad Quinones, a former grad student of student affairs.

Quinones was friends with Pollack from going to school together at Clarion University of Pennsylvania.

Pollock would continue his education Clarion University to finish his graduate degree, whereas Quinones would transfer to Eastern Illinois University for his grad program.

“We brought in Eric Pollock because he is really new and really funny,” Claypool said.

Another reason why UB brought in Pollack was because he could fit into the budget, allowing more performers to come and perform here, she said.

Pollock started comedy two years ago in an Erie, Pa. club.

Pollock has had audiences of nearly 3,500 when he has performed as a musician. The 23-year-old comedian has performed for both small and large groups.

His shows tend to be more audience oriented than general stand up jokes.

As long as he can interact with the audience, it does not matter what the size of the audience is, he said.

Pollock will perform today at 9 p.m. in 7th Street Underground.
