University Board searching for funds
University Board is asking for more than $24,000 from Student Senate at tonight’s meeting.
More than half of that number – $18,000 – would fund the Up All Nite program.
Up All Nite will take place three times during the spring semester. In January, February and April, UB will organize activities, such as inflatable games, novelties and arts and crafts throughout campus.
An X-Box 360 will also be purchased for the Cyber Lounge out of this fund.
Another $6,384 is being asked to continue the Coffee House Events in the Cyber Lounge.
The events will take place four times next semester. Musicians will be brought in to perform for students and free coffee will be served.
The allocations were tabled at last week’s meeting after little discussion took place, but they are not expected to pass quickly.
“People are going say some stuff about them and what they think about them,” said Student Senate Speaker Kent Ohms.
There has been a fair amount of discussion over the allocations outside of the meeting, Ohms said.
Other business includes a report by Student Body President on the outcome of EIU Safety Week, which took place in September.
Dave Keys, student vice president of student affair, will present a presentation on Web-CT and a resolution will be voted on requesting faculty to post grades and syllabi on it by the end of the spring semester.
Also a new Registered Student Organization funding proposal will be introduced at the meeting.
Student Senate meets at 7 p.m. every Wednesday in the Arcola-Tuscola Room in the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union.
