Additional funding for homecoming approved
University Board has been approved to receive an additional $10,100 for Homecoming week.
The new money, approved at Wednesday night’s Apportionment Board meeting, will be used to pay for promotions, inflatable games, the renting of the Will Rogers Theater, and to pay for the appearance of Dennis Haskins, of Saved by the Bell fame. The requests for money were approved 8-0.
UB chair JC Miller, vice chair Jessica Henson, and Homecoming chair Jessica Henson presented a presentation and answered questions from the board.
They outlined their plans for Homecoming and expressed that since the theme for Homecoming was not picked since they got their original funding for Homecoming last spring.
UB was budgeted about $17,000 for Homecoming. The additional funds will bring the total cost to about $28,000. About $8,000 should come in from the ad booklet.
“I think it was important to make sure Homecoming had the money that they thought they needed,” said board member Skyler King. “I do wish they would have planned a little more ahead, so that would already be in the budget so we wouldn’t have to do additional allocations.”
Student Senate will have to approve the funds for UB to receive them.
For the first AB meeting that was held where business was taken care of Apportionment Board Chair Levi Bulgar was pleased.
“I think it ran smoothly,” Bulgar said. “I’m really happy with the amount of dialogue that was given by all the members.”
The only other business of the night was transferring $700 already allocated to UB to another fund to pay for student bands not from Eastern.
