Procrastinators can still get tickets
It’s not too late to buy tickets to the Illini football game.
For those living in a hole the past few weeks, the Panthers varsity football team will face the Fighting Illini for the first time at 6 p.m. in Memorial Stadium in Champaign.
The Athletic Office has 100, $42 tickets and 100 $24 dollar tickets. Students should talk to either Cindy Bayes or Lindsey Hunter.
Students who can’t make it to the office before 4 p.m. today can call 581-2016 and pay for tickets over the phone using a credit card, Bayes said.
Bayes will then take purchased tickets with her to the game, where students can pick them up from her at Gate 14, Will Call.
Tickets should also be available at the stadium, Bayes said.
For those who don’t want to drive forty-five minutes, Gateway Liquors owner Carl Wolff and Chris Clayton of the Panther Paw are offering a free bus ride to the game.
“We’re going to provide some food and beverage,” Wolff said. “And we’ll tailgate a little bit up there.”
Gateway, the Panther Paw and Miller Lite are sponsoring two buses, which can take eighty people. As of Wednesday afternoon, one bus was already full, Wolff said.
To get a ride, tickets must be purchased at either the Panther Paw or Gateway for $24. The bus ride is included with the ticket price and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Students must be 21.
Students who have already purchased their tickets should meet at the Panther Paw between 1 and 2 p.m. They need to bring their ticket and picture ID.
The buses will leave between 3 and 3:30 p.m.
Wolff advised students to get to the bar early as he expected the second bus to fill quickly.
“We just thought it would be a good idea to get eighty people to go up there that didn’t have to worry about driving,” Wolff said about why he and Clayton decided to organize the transportation. “And we just think it’s a great idea, cause we want to go to the game too. So we thought ‘let’s just get a couple of buses’.”
