Recycling costs exceed $100,000
Between July 1, 2005, and May 20, 2006, Eastern sent 3,236,308 pounds of solid waste to the landfill, which was 401,708 pounds higher than all of the previous year. On Earth Day alone, Eastern Recycling Coordinator Allan Rathe said his recycling team sent over 17,000 pounds of trash to the landfill, which was not even from all of Eastern’s buildings.
