Michael Domani’s opened its doors Wednesday
Charleston’s newest restaurant, Michael Domani’s, opened Wednesday at the corner Lincoln Avenue and Fourth Street.
Manager Joshua Mayborne said he was especially pleased with business during the first days after opening, since the restaurant did not use formal advertising, just word of mouth.
The restaurant, which replaced E.L. Kracker’s after it closed in late July of this year, was scheduled to open earlier but ran into difficulties with development.
“There were construction barriers,” Mayborne said. “We just wanted to do it right.”
Mayborne also said the building itself is “fairly old” and underwent a full renovation after it was turned over to new owners, Michael Boksa and Michael Corray.
“There’s not an inch of this building that hasn’t been touched,” Mayborne said.
The restaurant serves mostly Italian food but has a menu that includes appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, pastas and steaks. Beverages include soft drinks, coffees and wines. Entree item prices range from $6.95 each for a half-pound hamburger, pork tenderloin or meatball club sandwich, all served with a side, to $23.95 for a regular filet cut of beef tenderloin.
Michael Domani’s is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, and Thursday through Saturday it is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The restaurant serves walk-in customers, but “we always welcome reservations,” Mayborne said.
