Improv comedy group takes stage tonight
The improv comedy group Fowl Language will grace the stage of 7th Street Underground in the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union tonight from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m.
The group is headed by former member of “Hello Dali,” another improv comedy group native to Eastern’s campus, said Steve Baran, entertainment and public relations coordinator for SONOR.
SONOR is an advertising, marketing and public relations organization on campus and was instrumental in opening up 7th Street Underground and is in charge of booking events for Tuesday and Saturday evenings.
The group’s comedic performance is completely improv, or “made-up,” Baran said. Audience participation will be a big part of the routine and will feature the audience being asked to set the scene for the comedy acts. The group also will give short five-minute comedy routines, Baran said.
“Their act is new and up and coming,” Barin said. SONOR has already scheduled another performance for “Fowl Language” for April 17.
Baran said he hopes to schedule more performances and groups similar to Fowl Language. “We want to have more events going on down there,” he said.
Barain said SONOR’s objective in opening up 7th Street Underground was to promote student involvement. He said he hopes to see more students take advantage of the opportunity and use 7th Street Underground.
